It began with test drives of the only volume-produced 100% electric vehicle on the market, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV. Dead silence, it was already on. It’s smooth handling impressed.
Vegetable / soy based blocks of ink were then used to print stunning photos on the Fuji Xerox ColourQube 8570 cartridge-less printer - no waste!

Our website launch went really well, a lively event and engaged attendance probing and asking alot of questions about the Mitsubishi electric car, Fuji Xerox Solid Ink eco-printer and EcoDirectory new website.

EcoDirectory's owner/manager Karel Boele was recently invited to the launch of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV in Melbourne. The small car is the first volume-produced 100 percent electric vehicle to be released in Australia and we caught up with Karel to ask his thoughts on the launch and the future of the electric car in Australia.

The arrival of the Toyota Camry (assuming the brakes work) makes 2010 year zero of the future of Australian motoring. True, there's nothing actually new about the Camry.
It's simply a Prius with a bigger body and engine. True, it's been on sale in the US for two years. True, Toyota will only be selling 10,000 a year to begin with. But it's the first electric or hybrid to be assembled in Australia and sets a new fuel consumption standard that will reshape the Australian market.

The UK has announced an energy policy featuring 10 new sites for nuclear power stations, investment in clean coal (with a promise of no new coal-fired power stations without clean coal) and 30 per cent renewables (mainly wind) by 2020. The UK plans to generate 40 per cent of its energy from nuclear power by 2025.

Even though you can't buy an electric car in Australia yet, an American company called Better Place has announced a partership with Macquarie Bank and power company AGL to build a network of recharging stations for electric cars in Australia.

Treehugger reports on tyre maker Michelin's new Active Wheel technology, a new development in electric cars. What's different is that there are 7kg electric motors in the wheels themselves, powered by lithium ion batteries and regenerative braking. Having the motors in the wheels dispenses with the need for a transmission system.
