Greywater
Find information and suppliers for greywater systems and products in Australia.
Greywater is the name given to water that has been used and is not fit to drink, but is still clean enough for many other purposes, such as watering the garden.
For instance the rinse-cycle water (and all water, if you use eco-friendly cleaning products) from dishwashers and washing machines can be reused in the garden. You can also catch the initial cold water from your shower (in a bucket, for instance), or use washing up water from your sink. It's all clean enough to water the garden, although you are advised not to use greywater on fruit and vegetables, and not to store greywater for more than 24 hours.
Greywater systems can be as simple as a bucket or a simple diverting valve in your outlet pipe, to larger systems that recyle much of your home or building's water.
