This list includes current federal and state rebates and grants. There may also be rebates and grants available from local councils. Retailers of solar panels/hot water and rainwater tanks should also know about rebates. We haven't listed remote region rebates - see the state sites below to check if any are available.

 


Federal rebates

Green Loans 
Free home sustainability assessments.

Solar Hot Water rebate
Up to $1600 to install solar hot water.

National Rainwater and Greywater Initiative
Up to $500 towards a rainwater tank or greywater system.

Solar Credits
Up to $9000 in tradable renewable energy certificates when you install solar panels. 


 

State rebates

ACT


NSW

  • Up to $1500 for rainwater tanks, solar hot water, water circulators, dual-flush toilets and water-efficient washing machines. More information >>
  • Feed-in tariff: Gross, 60c/kW, 7 years.

Northern Territory


Queensland

  • Energy saving rebates: Solar hot water systems for $500. More information >>  
  • Feed-in tariff: Net, 44c/kW, 20 years. 

South Australia 

  • Energy saving rebates: $500 for solar hot water. More information >>
  • Water saving rebates: Up to $1000 for a rainwater tank, $200 for washing machine, $150 for dual-flush toilet, $200 for pool covers, and other rebates. More information >>
  • Feed-in tariff: Net, 20c/kW, 20 years.

Tasmania

  • No current state rebates.
  • Feed-in tariff: Net, 20c/kW.

Victoria

  • Energy saving rebates: Up to $1,500 for solar hot water. More information >>
  • Water saving rebates:  up to $1000 for rainwater tanks, $500 for greywater systems, $150 for hot water recirculators, $50 for dual-flush toilets, up to $20 for a water-saving showerhead. More information >>
  • Feed-in tariff: (Solar Bonus) Gross, 60c/kW, 7 years.

Western Australia

  • Energy saving rebates: Up to $700 for solar hot water. More information >>
  • Feed-in tariff: Net.
