Tourism

This section features ecolodges and tour operators who work on minimal impact principles, such as using eco-friendly building and management techniques.
Good eco-tourism has minimal impact on the natural environment and raises awareness of its precious beauty.
It can also give wilderness an economic value that strengthens the case for its preservation. For instance, it can provide alternative job opportunities to logging in forest areas.
The main environmental problem with going on holiday is getting there. In particular, flying produces a lot of greenhouse gases - in fact, it may be the single worst thing you can do to the environment.
The simple answer: holiday closer to home. If you do fly, at least offset the carbon emissions from your flight (see Energy: carbon offsets).
